5 firefighters injured in Elmont house fire with partial collapse

ELMONT — The Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist the Elmont Fire Department for a house fire on Norfeld Boulevard just after 2 a.m. today.

The first arriving Elmont Chief located an occupant in the home and with help from the Nassau County Police Department removed the person and transported them to a local hospital in critical condition.

Engine 343 and Ladder 346 responded with Chief of Department Anthony Capone.

During operations, a partial collapse of the second floor occurred.

Five firefighters were injured, including two Valley Stream firefighters.

All firefighters received minor injuries.

Valley Stream firefighters operated on scene for approximately two hours.
