A PATTEN On Saturday morning, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office reported that an 82-year-old man lost his life after his truck was hit after he made a U-turn on Route 11.
According to early reports, a GMC truck performed a U-turn from a picturesque stop right in front of an approaching Dodge pickup at roughly 9:30 a.m. on South Patten Road, causing the collision.
The male driver was killed when the GMC was hit on the driver’s side.
After receiving minor injuries, a young passenger in the GMC was discharged from the hospital.
Three children and two adults were in the Dodge truck; they were all sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators from the sheriff’s office and a reconstruction team looked into the collision.
The Patten and Sherman fire departments, along with the Maine Warden Service, provided assistance on the site.
