SOUTHEAST — State Police responded to a structure fire at 8 Old Route 6 on June 11 at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, responders found a three-story apartment building containing ten separate units actively burning.
No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, tenant Brian Cronin, 43, of Southeast, was interviewed and confessed to intentionally setting the fire in his apartment.
Cronin was arrested and charged with second-degree arson, a class B felony.
He was remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
The investigation into the fire’s cause remains ongoing.
