SCARBOROUGH — The Scarborough Police Department stopped a vehicle containing eight occupants Saturday morning in connection with a suspicious death investigation in Waterford.
At approximately 10:47 a.m. June 14, Scarborough police received information from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department regarding two vehicles that left the scene of a suspicious death in Waterford.
The information indicated the vehicles may be traveling from Waterford to a residence in Scarborough.
A teletype from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department was issued requesting the vehicles be stopped and to notify the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Border Patrol.
At approximately 11:07 a.m., a Scarborough police officer observed one of the vehicles and stopped it on U.S. Route 1 near the intersection of Enterprise Drive.
Four additional Scarborough police officers and a Cumberland County deputy arrived to assist with the traffic stop.
The department was advised the Border Patrol had extensive travel time from Oxford County and the Maine Warden Service would be responding as the primary agency investigating the suspicious death.
The Scarborough Police Department left the traffic stop when the Maine Warden Service arrived to conduct their investigation.
