PENN YAN — Penn Yan Police responded to a personal injury motor vehicle rollover accident with entrapment at the intersection of Main Street and Seneca Street Monday afternoon.

Police determined that Jessica Hathaway operated her vehicle recklessly on Main Street by passing a stopped vehicle on the right, passing through two red lights, narrowly missing a bicyclist in the roadway and then colliding with a stopped vehicle.

Hathaway’s vehicle rolled over during the collision and came to rest on its roof, briefly trapping her before police were able to pry the door open and free her.

Hathaway and the driver of the vehicle that she struck were both treated by Penn Yan Ambulance staff at the scene for minor injuries.

Hathaway was ticketed by Penn Yan Police for reckless driving (misdemeanor), passed steady red signal, passing on the right, failed to keep right and speed unreasonable and prudent.

Hathaway will answer the tickets in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
