Utica police seize cocaine, fentanyl during narcotics raid

UTICA Following an investigation into the sale and distribution of drugs, investigators from the Special Investigations Unit of the Utica Police Department carried out a search warrant at 613 Albany St. on June 24.

Investigators from the Oneida County Narcotics Unit and Patrol Division officers of the Utica Police Department helped in the operation.

According to the police, criminal amounts of fentanyl and cocaine were found during the search.

During the search, officers also found U.S. money, packaging materials, and scales.

After the investigation, Utica resident William Antonetti Fontanez, 32, was taken into custody.

Fontanez faced one count each of cocaine and fentanyl, both with intent to sell, and two charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

In addition, he was charged with two charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled drug, specifically cocaine and fentanyl.

Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia are among the other allegations.

Fontanez has been processed and is awaiting more court hearings.
