CORTLAND After a combined investigation by the Cortland County Department of Social Services and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, a 49-year-old Marathon woman was taken into custody on June 18 on charges of petit theft and welfare fraud.
At 1:20 p.m., Lisa M. McKnight of Mill Street was arrested on a warrant.
According to authorities, McKnight neglected to give the Department of Social Services the necessary income data between February 1 and March 31.
According to the sheriff’s office, McKnight consequently got more than $584 in benefits to which she was not entitled.
On June 18, McKnight was released on her own recognizance after completing the Centralized Arraignment Process.
On July 16 at 9 a.m., she is expected to appear in Cortland City Court.
