Police pursuit ends in crash after stolen pickup flees Hamburg traffic stop

Hamburg After an accident in Buffalo on June 25, a routine traffic check for crossing a double yellow line resulted in a multi-jurisdiction vehicle pursuit that concluded with two arrests.

Around 9:40 p.m., a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck was pulled over on Route 62 by a Town of Hamburg police officer.

After stopping for a moment, the car drove away.

The car was later trailed into the communities of Eden and Evans after the officer alerted dispatch and pursued it.

As it returned to the Town of Hamburg, the supervisor of the Town of Hamburg Police put an end to the pursuit.

To keep visual contact, the Erie County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit was called in.

The car was in a single-vehicle collision in the City of Buffalo a short while later.

Kaine Hidy, 26, and Dontay Mardino, 27, were the two occupants that were arrested.

When police discovered that the car had been stolen from Eden, the proper charges were brought against both of them.
