Westford police investigate drowning death of 83-year-old woman

WESTFORD An 83-year-old lady drowned Friday afternoon, and police and fire personnel arrived to the scene.

At around 1:14 p.m., officers were summoned to a house on Dunstable Road after receiving a complaint of a woman who was unconscious and not breathing.

The woman was discovered in the water of Long Sought for Pond and on a pier at the back of the house.

Officers started doing CPR and other life-saving procedures right away. They also helped firefighters with other life-saving tasks.

The woman was declared deceased at the site despite the emergency reaction.

According to the police, there is no public threat and no suspicion of foul play.

The Special Services Division of the Westford Police Department and Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are conducting the investigation, which is still ongoing.
