BIDDEFORD On June 26, a U.S. District Court in Portland sentenced a man from Massachusetts to 18 months in prison for smuggling fentanyl into Maine.
Alvin Dorsey, 39, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. to 18 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
On Jan. 24, Dorsey entered a guilty plea.
In June 2023, a confidential source acting on behalf of the U.S. narcotics Enforcement Administration agreed to buy two sticks of fentanyl from a narcotics dealer under federal investigation, according to court documents.
There were 20 grams of fentanyl in each stick.
Dorsey brought the narcotics order to Biddeford and finished the deal with the informant.
Dorsey was arrested and prosecuted after a grand jury eventually indicted him with distributing fentanyl.
With assistance from the Biddeford Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Airport Group, and the DEA Airport Group, the DEA conducted the investigation.
