NEW HARTFORD — Following an alleged threatening incident at Consumer Square on Tuesday, police detained a 12-year-old boy.
At around 3 p.m., a female victim stated that two young guys had approached her in the parking lot, prompting the New Hartford Police Department to arrive on the scene.
According to the victim, both men left on foot after one of them verbally abused the other and flashed a knife.
There were no reported injuries.
A knife thought to have been used in the event was found by the officers along with the suspect.
The young person was accused with two misdemeanors: criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and threatening in the second degree.
Later this month, he will make an appearance before the Oneida County Probation Department after being released to his parents.
