WALTON When deputies noticed a Franklin man’s car drifting out of its lane on County Highway 21, they arrested him on felony driving while drunk charges.
On Thursday night, 51-year-old Joseph Amato was charged with a class E felony—driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction within the last 10 years.
In the Town of Walton, sheriff’s deputies were driving down County Highway 21 when they noticed a car not staying in its assigned lane and eventually stopping in the travel lane.
After a traffic stop, Amato was found to be the driver.
Amato also received traffic citations for parking on a highway, moving out of his lane without permission, failing to stay to the right, and obstructing other cars’ views.
He was also accused of a class A misdemeanor—obstructing governmental administration.
In order to await arraignment before the Delaware County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, Amato was sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility.
