Northfield At his home on Winch Hill Road, a 68-year-old man was cited Thursday night for allegedly serving alcohol to kids during an underage party.
After an incident at 10:36 p.m. on July 3, John L. Leonard of Northfield was charged with selling or providing to minors and permitting minors to consume.
Troops from the Berlin Barracks of the Vermont State Police responded to a complaint of an underage party that involved alcohol drinking.
When troopers arrived, they met with Leonard, who refused to let them enter the house or onto the private property.
Leonard and several other minors showed symptoms of intoxication, according to troopers.
After determining that there was probable cause for the infraction, police scheduled many court diversion appointments for minors.
Troopers requested a search warrant for the house and land.
After the search warrant was approved and carried out, several alcoholic containers that were inside and outside the house were found.
Leonard received a criminal citation to appear before the criminal division of the Washington County Court.
