Multiple agencies conducted an overnight investigation after SEYMOUR police responding to a domestic disturbance complaint found what looked to be multiple improvised explosive devices and items used to make explosives at a property on Chaden Road.
At 10:33 p.m. on July 3, the Seymour Police Department arrived at 1 Chaden Road in response to a reported domestic disturbance.
Officers had probable cause to arrest the male occupant of the house following an on-scene investigation.
Officers discovered that the individual had other guns registered to him throughout their inquiry.
Officers found materials to make explosive devices and what appeared to be multiple improvised explosive devices inside the house while removing the firearms.
The State Police Bomb Squad, Seymour Fire Department, Seymour Ambulance, and Seymour Emergency Management arrived on the scene after officers withdrew from the house.
Around 9:30 a.m. on July 4, all staff left the area.
Following his arrest, 37-year-old Joseph H. Bohlin was charged with disorderly conduct, interfering with an emergency call, unlawful bomb manufacturing (two counts), illegal explosives possession, and illegal fireworks possession.
Bohlin has a July 7 court hearing and is being held at the Seymour Police Department pending a $150,000 bond.
