Waterbury On July 1, Anderson Vargas, 26, of Stratford, was seen by members of the Connecticut State Police Violent Crimes Task Force, the Waterbury Police Department’s Gang Task Force, the Auto Theft Task Force, and the Crime Prevention Unit while they were on patrol in the vicinity of Angel Drive.
Vargas was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Watertown for a number of offenses, including engaging police in pursuit and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Vargas left the area on foot while police tried to halt a car.
He was swiftly and incident-free captured.
Vargas was discovered to be in possession of a handgun at the time of the arrest.
Officers found a Glock Austria Model 19 Gen 5 gun, about 6 pounds of marijuana, and $920 in US money.
Insufficient insurance, running a drug factory, obstructing an officer, misusing license plates, possessing marijuana with the intention of selling it, illegally selling or transferring pistols or revolvers, illegally possessing high-capacity magazines, and illegally possessing a firearm or ammunition were among the charges against Vargas.
He is not allowed to own any firearms or ammo because he was convicted of a felony for prior weapons charges.
Vargas is still being held by the Department of Corrections in Connecticut.
