ADDISON The New York State Police are looking into a murder and apparent suicide that happened in the Steuben County community of Addison at around 7 a.m. on June 20.
After a domestic dispute, troopers were called to a reported shooting at a home on Academy Street.
According to the preliminary inquiry, a 45-year-old man entered the house and got into a fight with a 43-year-old woman and her 41-year-old boyfriend.
After leaving the scene and returning a short while later, the 45-year-old man allegedly shot and murdered the 41-year-old man.
After leaving the scene in a car, the suspect crashed close to Wall Street.
Troopers found the 45-year-old man dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a nearby wooded area.
The incident did not result in any physical harm to the 43-year-old woman.
The causes of death will be verified by autopsies.
The Addison Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to State Police at the scene.
The inquiry is still under progress.
