WESTVILLE On Monday afternoon, an 81-year-old man from Malone was hurt when he swerved to escape an animal and collided with a telephone pole on State Route 122.
New York State Police say that at around 1:53 p.m., Dale I. Patterson was traveling east on State Route 122 in a gray 2012 Nissan when an animal unexpectedly jumped across the road.
In order to avoid colliding with the animal, Patterson veered off the road and collided with a telephone pole.
In order to treat his non-life-threatening injuries, he was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center.
In order to repair the damaged telephone pole, National Grid arrived on the spot.
After receiving treatment, Patterson was allowed to leave the hospital.
