AUGUSTA — A domestic dispute investigation led to the arrest of an Ilion man following a foot chase and taser deployment in the Town of Augusta on June 17.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies and New York State Police K9 units were attempting to locate Philip N. Mavica for arrest just after 3 p.m. when he fled the scene on foot, according to Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Deputies engaged in a brief foot pursuit before successfully apprehending Mavica when a deputy deployed his taser.

The arrest stemmed from a domestic dispute investigation that began June 16 when deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute that occurred June 15.

Mavica was transported to Wynn Hospital for evaluation before being taken to the Kurt Wyman Law Enforcement Building.

He was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, two counts of criminal mischief and two counts of harassment.

Mavica also had an active arrest warrant from a June 9 incident where he failed to comply with law enforcement.

Additional charges from the warrant include reckless driving, unlawful fleeing from a police officer and several vehicle and traffic law violations.

The charges are returnable to Sangerfield Town Court.

Mavica was transported to Oneida County Jail and held while awaiting centralized arraignment.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division was assisted by the New York State Police, Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Main St Auto Care and Central Oneida County Ambulance.
