BATH Following his original arrest, police discovered methamphetamine in a patrol car, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old Bath man on felony narcotics charges.

Dale L. Comstock was taken in a marked Bath Police Department patrol vehicle after being initially detained for public lewdness at around 3:30 a.m. on July 3.

At before 5:45 a.m., Bath police officers found a significant amount of methamphetamine in the back of the patrol unit after Comstock was released from jail.

In order to keep officers from discovering the methamphetamine as he was being arrested, Comstock allegedly tampered with the evidence by hiding it on his person and dropping it in the patrol car.

At around 8:00 a.m., Comstock was found and taken into custody at a house on State Route 415.

He faces charges of tampering with physical evidence (a Class E felony) and criminal possession of a controlled drug in the second degree (a Class A-II felony).

After being taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment, Comstock was set free.

The New York State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to the Bath Police Department.
