COOPERSTOWN — The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 42-year-old Broadalbin man June 18 on charges related to failing to notify authorities of an address change while registered as a sex offender.
August E. White faces charges of sex offender failure to notify change of address and sex offender failure to notify change of address with a prior conviction.
An investigation revealed White relocated from a residence in the Town of Otego in 2021 without making proper notification to the New York State Sex Offender Registry.
Deputies obtained an arrest warrant through Town of Middlefield Court after White’s whereabouts became unknown.
White was subsequently arrested by other agencies on unrelated charges and held at several correctional facilities.
He was released from prison June 10 under supervision of New York State Parole Officers.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office located White and turned him over to Otsego County investigators on the outstanding warrant.
White was processed at the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office and transferred to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended White be held without bail due to prior felony convictions.
The case will be heard in Town of Middlefield Court.
