LAWRENCE On June 19, at around 1:45 p.m., State Police arrived at the intersection of County Route 55 and County Route 54 to investigate a car-versus-tractor trailer collision.
According to the inquiry, Jerry B. Flanders, 78, of Copenhagen, New York, was driving a tan 2018 Chevrolet Equinox east on County Route 54 when he neglected to cede the right-of-way.
A tractor trailer driven south on County Route 55 by John S. Sharpe, 43, of Norfolk, New York, collided with his car.
Both vehicles stopped in a field on the east shoulder of County Route 55 after the tractor trailer crashed with a utility pole.
On the spot, Flanders was declared dead.
Sharpe was unharmed.
The inquiry is still under progress.
