A 32-year-old Cohoes man was taken into custody by State Police on Friday on suspicion of child sexual exploitation.

Matthew P. Roberts was accused of both owning a child’s sexual performance (a class E felony) and encouraging a child’s sexual performance (a class D felony).

Roberts is charged with having and disseminating pictures that support child sex exploitation.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s online tip sparked an investigation that led to the arrest.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce helped the State Police of Latham make the arrest.

State Police Latham processed Roberts.

On June 19, he was released after receiving an appearance ticket that needed to be returned to Cohoes City Court.
