CORTLAND Carlos Planas was charged with new crimes by the Cortland Police Department in relation to a violent event that is being investigated.
According to authorities, new findings in the case led to Planas’ arrest on June 25.
First-degree assault, a Class B felony, and second-degree attempted murder, also a Class B felony, have been added to the initial charges.
Following his arraignment, Planas was sent without bond to the Cortland County Jail.
According to the police, Planas was previously taken into custody in relation to the same event.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing and that further arrests may be made.
