Duxbury man arrested after firing handgun on Depot Street

DUXBURY According to police, a 33-year-old Duxbury man was taken into custody on June 27 after he allegedly fired a revolver, yelled profanities, and then ran away.

At around 5 p.m., the Duxbury Police Department was called to Depot Street in response to an allegation of a man individual brandishing a firearm and then driving away in a blue car.

After discovering multiple 9mm casings in a house’s driveway, officers searched the neighborhood and a nearby residence in an attempt to find the perpetrator or possible victims.

Officers were able to identify the suspect as Ryan Darville of Duxbury according to information from witnesses.

Darville and his car were given a regional BOLO.

Drivers on Route 3A reported a duffel bag and a revolver in the road while police cleared the gunshot scene.

While they awaited Plymouth County BCI’s assistance in processing the evidence, officers grabbed the high capacity 9mm handgun.

Later, Darville’s car was seen on Depot Street close to the location, but he ran away when he saw the police.

Darville was apprehended after officers caught up to him and performed a high-risk traffic stop.

Darville faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a handgun within 500 feet of a residence, carrying a firearm while inebriated, improper firearm storage, operating a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and disturbing the peace.

According to police, the shooting’s motivation and intended target are still being looked into.

The incident, which happened close to a busy shopping area, did not result in any reported injuries.
