ELMIRA — Two separate shooting incidents on June 9 left one person dead and five others wounded, according to the Elmira Police Department.
Police officers were dispatched to Pulaski Park on W Center St at approximately 8 p.m. for a report of gunshots with victims at the scene.
Officers found two people who had been struck by gunfire.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital where one was pronounced dead.
The other victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., officers received another call for gunshots in the 900 block of Oak St.
Officers found one person who had been struck by gunfire and learned that two other victims had left the scene in a private vehicle to seek treatment.
All three individuals from the Oak St incident were interviewed by police and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into both incidents is ongoing.
The names of the victims will not be released at this time.
