Fairfield moped driver dies after hit-and-run crash on Post Road

A FAIRFIELD On June 21, a car that ran away from the scene struck a 25-year-old moped driver on Post Road close to South Benson Road, resulting in his death.

At around 9:30 p.m., Fairfield Police received many 911 reports about the collision.

During their investigation, police were able to find the vehicle and driver, even though the striking vehicle had already departed the site before they arrived.

The moped driver died from his wounds at a nearby hospital after receiving life-saving treatment on the spot.

To show consideration for the victim’s family, police are not disclosing the victim’s identity.

The inquiry was taken over by the Fairfield Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.

While authorities performed an on-scene study and attempted to identify the cause of the incident, traffic in the vicinity was shut down for around three hours.

The community members who reported the collision and sent in camera evidence to help with the investigation were commended by the police.

The investigation is still in progress.
