Falmouth police arrest man, seize 2 illegal firearms in traffic stop

FALMOUTH — Police arrested a man and seized two illegal firearms during an early morning traffic stop on Sandwich Road.

Officers conducted the traffic stop at approximately 2:30 a.m. for an equipment violation.

Police observed the male driver reaching around the interior of the vehicle.

Officers removed the operator from the vehicle and checked him for weapons due to his movements.

A firearm was located on his person.

Police found an illegal extended round magazine and a second firearm in the vehicle.

Officers determined the man did not have an active license to carry and was intoxicated.

The man was placed under arrest and transported to Falmouth Police Department, where he was booked without incident.

Narcotics were also located during the arrest.

He will be arraigned Monday morning at Falmouth District Court.
