Fatal jet ski crash kills 21-year-old woman on Great Sacandaga Lake

BROADALBIN On Monday night, just north of the Broadalbin Boat Launch, a 21-year-old lady lost her life when her jet ski struck a pontoon boat on Great Sacandaga Lake.

Fulton County Deputy Coroner Sherry Brown pronounced Grace Clark, a Texas native and Schalmont High School alumnus, dead at the scene.

The 29-year-old Schoharie County resident Caleb Cummings, her passenger, was hurt and taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Calls about a potential boat accident involving one or two people in the water started coming in at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Communication Center.

According to preliminary investigation, a pontoon boat moving at about 20 m.p.h. collided with Clark’s jet ski.

The jet ski’s speed is still being looked upon.

The pontoon boat had a number of passengers, but nobody was hurt.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office reports that there was no evidence of the boat operator using drugs or alcohol.

Investigators have received cooperation from Cummings, the passengers, and the boat operator.

A blood test from the victim was one of the findings of an autopsy that was finished on Tuesday.

Along with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the State Police, the State Police Dive Team, and New York State Environmental Conservation Officers, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation.

Numerous emergency medical agencies, rescue squads, and fire departments provided assistance on the scene.
