GREENWICH Hotstyn Barrera-Perico was taken into custody by the Greenwich Police Department on June 18 in relation to a house burglary that occurred on January 6, 2023.

The 27-year-old was arrested and detained on separate charges at Stamford Superior Court.

On August 10, 2023, he was presented with an arrest warrant and posted a $250,000 bail.

The residents were on vacation when the burglary took place.

A rear bathroom window was used to gain in, and more than $7,900 worth of goods were taken.

Two masked and gloved individuals were seen rifling through the house in home security footage.

Earlier that day, one suspect—later identified as Barrera-Perico—was observed carrying a box, which is frequently used to check if a home is occupied, as he approached the front door.

Investigators retrieved security footage from a neighboring home that revealed two suspects and a dark SUV.

Barrera-Perico was identified by Greenwich Police in collaboration with the Stamford, Darien, and Nassau County Police Departments as a member of a South American gang that was stealing throughout the tri-state region.

During coordinated break-ins, the group was known to use stolen license plates.

Through the use of surveillance film, vehicle tracking information, and on-the-ground observation by Nassau County Police, Barrera-Perico was positively identified.

In Stamford, he has also been accused with similar burglaries.

Barrera-Perico was accused of third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, and third-degree conspiracy to conduct burglary.
