GREENWICH The Greenwich Police Department was notified via Real Time Crime of an ongoing car pursuit that was started by the New York City Police Department on Wednesday, June 25 at around 2:02 p.m.

An off-duty NYPD cop was involved in a robbery that sparked the pursuit.

The suspects, who were identified as a male and a female, were heading north on I-95 into Greenwich in a black BMW SUV.

Several Greenwich police units responded and worked in tandem with the Westchester County Police Department Aviation Unit, the NYPD, the Harrison Police Department, the Stamford Police Department, the Connecticut State Police, and the FBI.

Around 2:12 p.m., the suspicious car pulled into Greenwich.

In order to support arriving NYPD units, Greenwich Police Department officers positioned their patrol cars strategically.

The suspect car was involved in two car crashes on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich during this period.

One accident was reported at the scene with minor injuries.

Later, the suspicious car was left in Stamford, close to Wire Mill Road.

About 50 feet from the abandoned car, the suspects—a Black male and a Black female—who were both dressed entirely in black fled on foot into a forested area, according to the NYPD and Stamford police.

Together with NYPD, Connecticut State Police, and Stamford police, Greenwich policemen assisted in the coordinated hunt and capture of the suspects.

The female suspect was arrested in Stamford at 2:51 p.m.

Three minutes later, at 2:54 p.m., the male suspect was captured in the same location.

The accused were identified by NYPD as Betsy Bermudez, 27, and Jonser Hernandez, 27.

There will soon be arrest warrants.
