HAVERSTRAW On Wednesday night, the male individual who had been reported missing from Haverstraw Beach State Park was found dead in the water.
Authorities’ first examination suggests that an apparent unintentional drowning was the cause of death.
The person’s identity is being kept secret until their next of kin is notified.
Following a report of someone last seen going into the water, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, the New York State Parks Police, and several local fire departments are still on the scene at the state park on Riverside Avenue.
The search effort involved members from multiple fire departments as well as the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team.
