Herkimer man charged with stabbing brother during altercation

HERKIMER At 3:28 a.m. on June 29, Herkimer County State Police were called to a residence on State Route 5 in the town of Herkimer in response to a stabbing report.

Inside the house, troopers found a 45-year-old man who had two obvious stab wounds.

According to the victim, he and his brother got into a fight, and after he stabbed him with a kitchen knife, the brother left the house.

The man was treated for non-life-threatening stab wounds at Wynn Hospital after being taken there by MOVAC Ambulance.

With help from the Rome Police Department, the suspect—who was later identified as 40-year-old Frankfort resident Keith M. Lamont—was found and arrested in Rome.

After being taken to State Police Herkimer, Lamont was accused of criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor, and assault in the second degree, a class D felony.

In lieu of $15,000 cash or a $30,000 bond, Lamont was committed to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility after being arraigned in Herkimer Town Court.
