BUFFALO U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. sentenced a Jamestown man convicted of drugs conspiracy to 132 months in prison.

Santos Santiago, 49, was sentenced after his conviction, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Investigators carried out a controlled purchase of fentanyl from Santiago in November 2023, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who supervised the case.

When police carried out a search warrant at Santiago and his wife Anabell’s home on Van Buren Street on November 8, 2023, they found cash, a large amount of fentanyl, tablets, and drug paraphernalia.

Santiago tried to destroy his fentanyl while police were securing the residence, which resulted in a significant amount of fentanyl flying into the air.

One of the two officers who inhaled the fog needed medical assistance after feeling bodily consequences.

Investigators made two additional controlled purchases of fentanyl from Santiago in March.

Another search warrant was executed in April, this time at a Jamestown home on Whitley Avenue.

Fentanyl, crack cocaine, two loaded 9mm handguns, ammo, $30,369 in cash, narcotics paraphernalia, a switchblade knife, and oxycodone tablets were found by authorities during that search.

In June 2023, one of the pistols was reported stolen.

Anabell Santiago, a co-defendant, is still facing charges.
