A UNION The unexplained death of a female paddleboarder discovered in Crawford Pond on July 3 is being looked into by Maine State Police.
Maine Game Wardens were summoned to help the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Union Fire Department search for a missing paddleboarder on Crawford Pond at around 1:05 a.m.
An adult female was found dead during the search.
Wardens asked the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central for assistance in light of the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The day was devoted to the death investigation by detectives and evidence response technicians.
To ascertain the cause and manner of death, an autopsy will be conducted at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where the dead was taken.
Police are looking for witnesses who might have seen a lady paddleboard on July 2 between 6 and 9 p.m. at Crawford Pond in Union, close to 100 Acre Island.
