Malta woman charged with felony DWI after KFC drive-thru crash

MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property damage motor vehicle crash Monday at 6:25 p.m. in the Kentucky Fried Chicken drive-thru on Kendall Way.

Investigation into the crash led to the arrest of Emily R. Shields, 24, of Malta, for aggravated DWI, DWI, and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater.

All charges are class E felonies.

Shields is accused of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition and at a time when her blood alcohol content was 0.28%.

The charges were elevated to felonies due to a previous DWI conviction within the preceding 10 years.

She was released on appearance tickets pending further proceedings in Malta Town Court.
