HARRIETSTOWN After responding to a trespass report Thursday afternoon, New York State Police arrested a man from Philadelphia on counts of burglary and stolen property.
At around 1:30 p.m. on June 19, police arrived at 2 St. Regis Carry Road in the Town of Harrietstown in response to a trespassing allegation.
When police arrived and spoke with the property caretaker, they learned that an unidentified person had been seen dozing off in a car parked inside one of the property’s sheds.
The person was identified as Philadelphia resident Jamil J. Dabney, 42.
On the property, there was another person who looked to be under the effects of illegal narcotics.
He was taken by EMS to Adirondack Medical Center for additional assessment because of his obvious condition and incapacity to take care of himself.
After more research, it was discovered that the car Dabney was sleeping in had been reported stolen from Pennsylvania.
Dabney was taken into custody and processed at State Police Ray Brook on one count of third-degree burglary and one count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen items.
Dabney was released on his own recognizance after being arraigned in Harrietstown Town Court, with a return date of July 21 at 11 a.m.
The inquiry is still under progress.
