Man arrested on DUI charge after parking in travel lane on Interstate 89 in Bethel

BETHEL Early Thursday morning, Vermont State Police discovered a 54-year-old Moretown man parked in a travel lane on Interstate 89, leading to his arrest on a DUI charge.

At 11 p.m. on Wednesday, troopers from the Royalton Barracks responded to reports of a car stopped in the travel lane, leading to the arrest of Andrew Balser near Mile Marker 22 southbound.

According to authorities, troopers spoke with Balser and noticed signs of impairment.

After being examined for possible drunk driving, Balser was taken into custody.

He refused to be tested after being taken to the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks for processing.

Following processing, Balser was given a citation to appear later before the Windsor County Superior Court Criminal Division.
