MIDDLETOWN — Middletown Police have arrested a Durham man in connection with a May 22 shooting where a gunman fired through the front door of a residence.
Police responded to a city residence at approximately 1:20 a.m. on May 22 to investigate a reported shooting.
Officers determined that an individual approached the front door of the residence knowing two victims were inside in the kitchen area.
The suspect fired one round from a gun through the front door at the victims before fleeing in his vehicle.
The round penetrated the door and entered the residence but did not strike the victims.
Police said this was a targeted attack and there is no danger to the general public.
Detectives from the Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit identified Carmin Rubino, 24, of Durham as the suspected shooter.
Detectives served multiple search warrants and secured additional witness statements and video surveillance during the investigation.
Police obtained a warrant for Rubino’s arrest.
Rubino was arrested June 9 for his involvement in the incident.
He was charged with two counts of criminal attempt of assault in the first degree, two counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and criminal mischief in the first degree.
Rubino was held on a court-set $200,000 bond and presented at G.A. 9 on June 9.
