NANUET — Two adults were arrested on sex trafficking charges following an undercover operation at a residence on Smith Road, police said Tuesday.
The Clarkstown Police Department’s Street Crime Unit conducted the operation at 16 Smith Road targeting individuals involved in prostitution and sex trafficking.
The investigation began after community reports of suspected illicit activity at the location.
Officers infiltrated online platforms commonly used to facilitate such crimes and conducted surveillance and undercover work to identify suspects.
Several children were found inside the residence and immediately transported to a local hospital for observation and care.
Child Protective Services were notified and are involved in the ongoing investigation.
Negri Sanz Del Orbe, 42, of Nanuet, was charged with sex trafficking, promoting prostitution in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, criminal contempt in the second degree, unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree, endangering the welfare of a child, permitting prostitution and criminal nuisance in the second degree.
Luis Mendez-Valdez, 31, of Nanuet, faces the same charges.
Both suspects were remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond.
They are scheduled to appear in Clarkstown Justice Court on June 11 at 1:30 p.m.
