Niskayuna woman arrested on drug charges after Taconic State Parkway traffic stop

DUTCHESS COUNTY During a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway on Monday, New York State Police found about 1,436 grams of cocaine in the car of a 41-year-old Niskayuna woman, leading to her arrest.

On June 30, members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit saw a Ford sedan breaking the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law as it traveled north on the parkway.

Tamar W. Knight was recognized as the driver and only occupant.

After sniffing the car from the outside, State Police K9 Wild detected the presence of drugs.

The cocaine was found hidden in the trunk of the car during a follow-up probable cause search.

Knight tried to escape on foot during the search, but he was quickly caught and taken into custody without any more problems.

Knight was accused of Obstruction of Governmental Administration, a Class A misdemeanor; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, a Class A-I felony; and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree with Intent to Sell, a Class B felony.

Without posting bond, Knight was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
