Peru hit-and-run leaves bicyclist hospitalized, police seek dark Ford Explorer

The public is being asked to help PERU Clinton County Sheriff’s officers find a dark Ford Explorer that hit a bicycle on June 27 and then ran away.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the car struck a 61-year-old woman bike who was also heading north on Felton Road at around 12 p.m.

Following the crash, witnesses said the Ford Explorer accelerated away from the area toward State Route 22B and had tinted its windows.

Emergency medical professionals assessed the victim’s abrasions and suffering on the spot.

She was taken by Morrisonville EMS to UVM-CVPH for additional assessment.

At the time of the news release from the sheriff’s office, she was still receiving treatment for minor wounds.

Morrisonville EMS and the Peru Fire Department/EMS provided on-scene assistance.
