Pitcher man arrested on strangulation, assault charges

HOMER On June 27 at around 2:16 p.m., Sebastian Leigh Eccleston, 49, of Pitcher, was taken into custody by New York State Police on charges of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and strangulation in the second degree, a class D felony.

On June 24, the Cortland County 911 Center sent troopers to Cortland Guthrie Medical Center in response to a domestic dispute incident.

According to the investigation, the incident started with a fight in a car and happened on June 13.

Eccleston is charged with choking the victim and making physical contact with the victim, inflicting pain and injury, when the victim stopped the car in Marathon.

Eccleston was taken to State Police Homer for processing after being taken into custody in Syracuse on June 27.

For a centralized arraignment, he was thereafter taken to the Cortland County Jail.
