Everly Early on Thursday morning, the Beverly Police and Fire Departments were called to a deadly aviation collision that occurred close to Beverly Regional Airport.
Emergency personnel responded to reports of a plane accident on Sam Fonzo Drive, just outside the airport, at around 8:46 a.m. on June 19.
When responders arrived, they found a severely damaged single-engine piston aircraft leaning against a utility pole.
The pilot and a passenger were both guys who were trapped inside the airplane.
At the site, one person was declared dead.
The second man had severe injuries and was flown to a hospital by medical chopper.
There have been no reports of further property damage or injuries on the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been alerted to the accident and will look into it.
Notification was also sent to the district attorney’s office in Essex County.
At the site, Massachusetts State Police and the Danvers Fire Department assisted one another.
