Port Byron woman charged with possessing stolen property

PORT BYRON — An 18-year-old woman was arrested June 5 on charges of criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.

Jayla M. Dwyer of Port Byron was charged with the misdemeanor after deputies investigated a larceny complaint involving a male suspect at a different location, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation showed the male suspect resided with Dwyer.

Deputies found Dwyer was in possession of items stolen from a local business on Route 31 in the town of Mentz and had attempted to sell the stolen items online.

Dwyer was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Port Byron Village Court on June 17 at 6 p.m.
