According to Portland Downtown, the nonprofit that runs the Downtown Ambassadors program, in the five weeks since it began, more than 2,600 property owner complaints have been resolved.
A new QR code has been activated to allow visitors to register their grievances with the Downtown Ambassadors directly, according to Cary Tyson, executive director of Portland Downtown.
“When I arrived at work this morning, I noticed ten distinct tags indicating that buildings had been vandalized. They are now working on those out there. As we proceed, our objective is to get rid of them in a day,” Tyson stated.
Tyson is urging business owners who have cameras to aim them toward the locations of graffiti in order to help identify the offenders, as property damage is a crime.
According to Tyson, company owners are happy with the initial outcomes.
Between Commercial Street, Cumberland Avenue, Longfellow Square, and the Franklin Arterial lies the Downtown District.
