Poughkeepsie police arrest Fishkill man in child abuse case

POUGHKEEPSIE A Fishkill man was taken into custody by City of Poughkeepsie police on June 24 after they looked into claims of child abuse.

The suspect is accused of committing a Class A misdemeanor on one count of acting in a way that is harmful to a minor under the age of 17.

In addition, he was accused of one Class B misdemeanor crime of third-degree sexual abuse.

The City of Poughkeepsie Detective Bureau, with support from the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center, conducted the investigation that resulted to the arrest, according to the police.

A physical therapist at Hudson Point Physical Therapy, located at 57 Cannon Street, allegedly touched a kid inappropriately, prompting authorities to launch an inquiry.

The defendant was sent to the Dutchess County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond after being arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court.

Because of the misdemeanor charges, the police are not disclosing the suspect’s name.
