Providence police arrest 3 in separate incidents

PROVIDENCE In three different instances involving car stops and collisions, Rhode Island State Police made three arrests.

Eugene Gomez, 54, of 13 Woodward Street, Norton, Massachusetts, was taken into custody by Troopers Thomas and Dietsch at 4:07 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by the 4th Division Court.

Driving with a suspended, revoked, or cancelled license was the initial charge for which the warrant was issued by the Narragansett Police Department.

Troops were reacting to a car accident on Route 95 when they made the arrest.

After being arraigned by a Justice of the Peace with a date from the 4th Division Court, Gomez was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and released.

Julio Tavares, 46, of 20 Balcom Street, Apt. 3, Providence, was taken into custody by Trooper Richards at 10:06 p.m. with the help of troopers from the Lincoln Woods and Scituate Barracks.

Tavares was accused of careless driving, driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a chemical test, and hindering an officer from performing their duties.

Troops were reacting to a car accident on Calder Street when they made the arrest.

Tavares was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks of the Rhode Island State Police, where he was processed and detained overnight as a bond violator awaiting his arraignment in Sixth District Court.

Trooper Ellis arrested 24-year-old Michael Jean at 1:46 a.m. on a bench warrant issued by the Sixth District Court for failing to show up for arraignment on a charge of driving with an expired license.

An automobile stop on Harford Avenue led to the arrest.

After being taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing, Jean was then taken to the Adult Correctional Institution.
