ROME — A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with a shooting at a Byrne Dairy parking lot that damaged a vehicle but left no one injured.

Nameer X. Lewis of Lee was charged with menacing in the 2nd degree, criminal mischief in the 3rd degree, and criminal mischief in the 4th degree.

Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Byrne Dairy at 216 Erie Boulevard East at approximately 6:12 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, patrol officers received information from a witness that two vehicles were involved and left the scene prior to their arrival.

After interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance, police determined that one of the involved vehicles was parked in the parking lot occupied by one male.

The second involved vehicle entered the parking lot and pulled in front of the parked vehicle.

A male exited the second vehicle and began shooting toward the parked vehicle as the driver attempted to retreat.

Following an investigation by the patrol division and detective division, both involved vehicles and subjects were identified.

The victim’s vehicle sustained damage, but no one was injured as a result of the incident.

The Rome Police Detective Division continued the investigation and located the suspect Monday.

Lewis was processed and held for arraignment in Rome City Court on June 17.
