Rome Two males were charged with drugs after police found cocaine and fentanyl in their car during a traffic stop on Floyd Avenue for an equipment violation.
Around 11:39 a.m. on June 9, patrol officers from the Rome Police Department stopped Jeffrey D. Blount, 35, of Utica, in the 1100 block of Floyd Avenue.
Blount was taken into custody for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after it was discovered that his driver’s license was suspended.
During the traffic stop, a male passenger ran away.
Officers discovered cocaine under the front passenger seat of the car during an inventory search.
The drugs were given to the Special Investigations Unit of the Rome Police Department for analysis.
With a total weight of roughly 7.45 grams, one material tested positive for cocaine.
With an aggregate weight of about 8.71 grams, the other material tested positive for methamphetamine and/or fentanyl compound.
The New York State Police Crime Lab received both drugs for additional analysis.
Blount also faced charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
After processing, he was detained pending arraignment.
Tazmin R. Boyd, 32, of Rome, who is on parole from New York State, was later recognized by the police as the passenger.
At 11:20 a.m. on June 26, Boyd was found and taken into custody.
His charges included third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Boyd was held for arraignment after being processed.
