SARATOGA COUNTY — A 38-year-old Fort Ann man was arrested Sunday on charges of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree following an incident at Saratoga Hospital.
Jeffrey W. Fifield was taken into custody after allegedly kicking a deputy and throwing a metal walker at the officer at 8:32 a.m., according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
The assault resulted in physical injury to the deputy, authorities said.
Fifield was arraigned in Milton Town Court before Judge Timothy M. Brown and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail, where he was already being held on other charges.
The assault charge is a class D felony, while the weapon possession charge is a class A misdemeanor.
The injured deputy was evaluated and treated at a local urgent care facility and released.
“This is yet another example of the dangers our men and women face every day,” said Undersheriff Jeffrey R. Brown in a statement.
